Tips for Being Prepared to Rent Heavy Equipment
Companies rent heavy equipment because they are looking for a cost effective, hassle free way to complete a wider range of jobs. To make the process go as smoothly as possible, follow these tips and best practices for renting from Hawkins-Graves.
Rental equipment delivery or transportation
When renting from Hawkins-Graves, you can either pick up and transport the equipment on your own, or we can deliver it right to your jobsite. For delivery, all you have to do is provide the location and agree on a time for the equipment to arrive. If you are transporting the equipment on your own, ensure you have a trailer with sufficient capacity for the equipment and load securing devices.
Rental equipment insurance
We require that companies have insurance before renting from our fleet, so contact your insurance provider before coming in to see what steps you need to take. If you don't have an insurance provider, call our rental department, and we can recommend one.
Contract for rental equipment
Review the rental contract carefully before you sign it. This document will contain important information on your responsibilities while the equipment is under your control. If you have questions about any of the information in the rental agreement, be sure to ask one of our team members before you sign it.
Damage responsibility for rental equipment
We ask that you treat our rental equipment as if it were your own. Machine abuse or negligence can lead to additional fees, as can excessive staining or cosmetic damage necessitating additional cleanup. If the equipment is damaged while you are using it, be sure to document the damage, and immediately notify your insurance carrier and our rental team.
Credit approval and payment
We require credit approval before renting from our fleet. Before choosing which type of equipment to rent, we ask that you have an acceptable payment method ready. If you're not sure whether you have the credit necessary for approval, all you have to do is contact our rental department to see what other options may be available.
